Job Title: DB2 UDB DBA
Location: Dallas, TX
Duration: 1 Year (Ext upto 24 months)

Description:
We have a requirement for a DB2 UDB DBA for z/OS at Dallas, TX. It is long term for at least 1 year and could go up to 24 months.

Requirement Summary:
Desired Skills and Experience:
· Requires 8 -10 years data processing experience with four years of directly related z/Series systems programming experience in medium to large scale data processing installations.
· Requires comprehension of DB2 and z/OS operating system internals, associated program products, and the methodologies for installing, maintaining, and supporting these systems.
· Strong client management, written/verbal communication, and documentation/planning skills.
· Should have undergone technical training for z/OS in a DB2 Data Sharing and Sysplex environment utilizing various applications and third-party program products

Role & Responsibility of this resource:
1. DB2 UDB for z/OS and associated third-party program product software planning, installation, and support for production and internal disaster recovery data-replication environments. The candidate should fully understand DB2 SMP/E installation, ZPARM specifications, DB2 Connect & DRDA concepts, DB2 system administration, and DB2 performance/tuning using CA Insight, Thread-Terminator, and Detector or equivalent products. This also includes the support of standards, procedures, documentation, configuration management/support, and DBA team assistance/support.
2. Strong program product installation, configuration, support, and usage skills in the following: CA DB2 Tools (Insight, Thread Terminator, Detector, etc.) or equivalent products.
3. Installation, configuration, and support experience with one or more of the following is a plus: CA-1/7/11, Sun (STK) HSC/SMC/LS/VSM, Telon, Endevor, OPS/MVS, Focus, Syncsort, SAS, CA-Spool, CA-Disk, ACF2, SMP/E, ISPF/TSO, SDSF, TCPIP, and/or VTAM. Prior experience in such products is not required; however the prospective candidate would be expected to learn and support program products in this area as a secondary responsibility.
4. Maintain continuous availability of computer systems by installing preventative and corrective maintenance for DB2 and other system program products.
5. On-call and 3rd level system support providing problem determination and resolution for installed systems software base.
6. Meet defined availability & performance SLA's from computer systems software/hardware base.
Maintain knowledge of vendor's current software and hardware products. Prepare evaluations on benchmarks of products to provide recommendations to management.
