Sr. HPUX Engineer in Dallas, TX
POSITION CAN BE LOCATED IN EITHER DALLAS, TX OR PITTSBURGH, PA An intermediate-level professional, the Infrastructure Management Sr. Analyst is a fully qualified individual producer who applies a broad knowledge of systems analysis concepts, practices and procedures. Incumbents are competent to work on fairly complex assignments (and/or portions of more large, complex systems) and perform a full range of system analysis activities. The incumbent generally works under deadlines and is capable of handling heavy workloads, operating with only general supervision, although errors at this level can cause delay, expense and/or disruption. May provide occasional functional guidance to less experienced staff. Provides functional and technical expertise to formulate computer system scope and objectives, devises or modifies procedures to solve problems using information systems. Prepares detailed specifications from which programs are written, and the functional design, against which computer programs can be coded, tested, debugged and documented. Assignments are in technical, scientific and business functional areas. REPESENTATIVE PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs definition of user functional requirements by translating development and/or maintenance requirements into specifications; creates data file and database designs. Analyzes existing software for incorporation of desired enhancements. Performs detailed reviews and analysis of program changes, new equipment, new technology and other factors and trends impacting existing systems in order to facilitate the development and conformance of system modifications. Formulates recommendations on alternative approaches to realize desired functionalities and/or enhancements and desired levels of performance. Performs feasibility studies, life cycle analysis and/or cost/benefit studies. Consults with hardware, communications and database experts and/or vendors to ensure viability of systems. Designs system, providing interpretive analyses, preparing flowcharts and associated diagrams/ enhancement plans. Prepares acceptance test plans, conducts acceptance tests and confirms results. Develops sampling methodologies by applying standard statistical techniques and software packages. Develops and maintains sampling systems. Performs data sampling and provides interpretation. Ensures that systems documentation is updated according to client and ACS' standards. May assist in user training. Occasionally may provide guidance to and assist in the training of less experienced staff. Maintains state-of-the-art knowledge and compiles information into recommendations/analyses. May conduct research for, or write portions of, technical proposals. EDUCATION AND TYPICAL YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent work experience. Minimum 5-7 years of progressively responsible related technical experience, including at least 1 year systems design experience in a large scale computer/systems environment and at least 2 years major responsibility for developing, revising and controlling technical documentation of a complex system. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: -Strong HP-UX experience a must -Experience with VxVM file systems and disk groups -Configuring and managing vPAR and nPAR based HP-UX machines -Creating BCV scripts and performing splits, mounts, and synchronization of BCVs -MC/ServiceGuard clustering experience is a plus -Server builds including DR scenario -OS installs and upgrades -Installation of layered software products -Patch maintenance -Mid to Upper Level Experience with Netbackup configuration, design and support is a plus. -SAN experience, especially EMC is a plus. -Performance monitoring and tuning -Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills -Participate in on-call rotation -Some travel required To Apply to this job go to http://www.GadBall.com or click here
