Oracle DBA in Dallas, TX

Oracle DBA needed to support a Conversion project based in Richardson, Texas.

- Responsible for providing day-to-day support and maintenance for key Oracle/Informix databases and services of our applications platform on production and lab environments
- Participate in version releases and patches
- Investigate potential problems and issues raised by users; this includes being on a on-call rotation and carrying a pager as needed
- Work with the team to automate reactive procedures where possible, and to promote rapid response to known issues
- Work with other teams to promote changes to production and other environments
- Accountable for maintaining database configurations in compliance with established best practices
- Work in conjunction with other IT, application development, and business groups to understand

Required:
- Experience in supporting non-production/production databases.
- Very good knowledge of Oracle 9i, 10g, SQL, PLSQL
- Very Good Unix knowledge (HP)
- In-depth knowledge of Tiger, Release, Distrib and Synswitch job
- Good knowledge of Shell scripting using perl/sed/awk
- Strong experience supporting mission critical relational databases
- Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
- Skilled in scripting and automating repetitive administrative tasks
- Able to work effectively in high pressure situations
- Performance Monitoring & Tuning

Nice to have knowledge:
- Knowledge of DB2
- Middleware (Tuxedo, Weblogic)
