Portfolio Manager in Dallas, TX

Our client is looking to build a portfolio management team and is looking for a Portfolio Manager with proven experience managing projects related to business operations, process, and IT. Responsibilities will be varied and complex. Often works outside area of assigned duties. Applies advanced skills in multiple areas. Works independently. Routinely resolves complex issues which impact business operations both inside and outside own department.

Must have:
. Proven experience with the management of a portfolio of programs & projects
. Extensive organization, communication, and facilitation skills
. Proactive work style and ability to work independently with limited oversight
. Ability to work as a team member and communicate effectively
. Ability to create an open environment where conflicts as to project priorities and funding decisions can be aired and resolved in an objective manner
. Strong computer skills with a natural tendency to learn new programs and develop in-depth understanding of tools available for communicating, coordinating and collaborating with various groups and individuals.
. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, priorities, tasks and projects simultaneously and within specified deadlines.
. Possesses excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
. Budgeting knowledge
. Master's Degree or equivalent is preferred

Job functions performed at all levels:
. Maintaining a set of projects which form the portfolio for technology and process improvement initiatives.
. Administer the portfolio with respect to the intake of request and communication of status.
. Ensure all required data for making portfolio decisions is complete and available for decision-making, working with functional managers and project managers to do so.
. Maintains the portfolio documentation and minutes of management decisions with respect to portfolio.
. Manages the day-to-day mechanisms to report status for portfolio within the organization and to senior management.
. Monitors projects in the portfolio - milestone schedule commitments, resource commitments - and collects project information from the project managers to update the portfolio.
. Monitors resource constraints affecting the completion of projects in the portfolio.
. Using the criteria defined; ensure that all projects are evaluated, to link their value to the corporate business strategy and business goal as well as constraints.
. Ensure that project benefits and costs allow for objective evaluation of projects against company objectives and thereby aid project approval decision-making
. Track and quantify the impact to the existing portfolio when new projects are identified and department leadership and company senior management to recommend alternative strategies (resources, project sequencing etc.) for accomplishing desired projects.
. Assists department leadership, in working with business and project managers to identify project interrelationships that will affect portfolio priority and resource allocation decisions.
. Assist department leadership in the allocation of resources necessary to execute portfolio approved programs/projects on budget and schedule.
