JCpenney Home Office, Plano, TX Basic Function: Analyzes, evaluates, develops, customizes, installs, implements and maintains computing systems, platforms, and infrastructure in accordance with customer requirements and organizational methodologies and standards. Principle Responsibilities: 1. Develops time estimates for individual tasks, monitors progress and provides accurate and timely reports. 2. Manages resolution of problems and escalates as required. Communicates problems or issues in a timely manner. 3. Researches and recommends, with direction, alternative actions for problem resolution. Identifies trends to proactively prevent problems. 4. Assists in installation, customization, development, implementation and maintenance of network systems. Assists in evaluating and recommending emerging networking technologies. 5. Assists project teams/business units in evaluating, developing, implementing and supporting architecture components. 6. Participates in component and system testing as it relates to the network. Tests and implements network components using techniques that meet accepted network design standards. Understands interdependencies and acts to avoid problems. 7. Responds to network problems with effective resolutions through predictive, proactive root cause analysis. 8. Contributes to cost estimate development. Education: A.A.S., engineering, computer science, information systems preferred, and/or equivalent formal training or work experience. Experience: Position typically filled by candidate having 0 to 4 years proven software and/or hardware system installation, configuration, maintenance, and support experience. Or strong Graduate with a Bachelors in Computer Science or Managed Information Systems. Core Competencies: Demonstrated aptitude for logical thinking. Ability to perform basic troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, solution development, and implementation. Ability to analyze and resolve problems of simple to medium complexity. Administers the additions, modifications and deletions of user and resource accounts, profiles, and access control lists in various security databases, based on established security policies and procedures. Reviews appropriate security logs and exception reports. Performs regular monitoring of security violations. Follows up as necessary to determine source and cause of violations, and resolve suspected violations.
