We are seeking a Business Analyst with a background in Finance and/or accounting. In this role, you will be responsible for the analysis, design, user sign-off of various Hyperion Essbase reports necessary for strategic and tactical reporting. As a Senior Business Analyst, you will be responsible for utilizing best practices and will be involved in the full life cycle development, implementation, and performance of the reporting environment. You will spear-head the effort interacting with various functional department teams, project managers, and senior management.
Candidate should have previous experience in analyzing, defining, and documenting data requirements, and reporting needs. You should also be able to identify and define data sourcing, business rules, and business logic.
Key Objectives:
. Perform the various analysis functions that support teams that create reports and reporting environments of data from various applications. Work with developers to ensure the design is detailed and comprehensive so that the build is of good quality and accurate
. Ensure the delivered enhancement meets the requirements of the business and can be used effectively by end users;
. Support effective and efficient business processes in partnership with other software and reporting development teams.
. Write quality specifications for applications, system enhancements and bug fixes;
. Design and help implement automated test scripts for existing, plus new applications and system enhancements;
. Ensure that information needs and business rules are in compliance with enterprise policies and standards.
. Plan, Develop and maintain project plans for the reporting efforts;
. Be involved in the delivery lifecycle from project initiation to implementation to ensure the required enhancement is delivered as required and on-time
. Continually strive to deliver higher quality and more efficient applications to support the business needs.
. Work with the quality assurance group to ensure testing can be completed efficiently and comprehensively
. Identify ownership and accountability for enterprise reporting information.
. Participate in evaluating new technologies to ensure the continuity and advancement of data and technology architecture within company information needs.
. Participate in building a framework for accurately capturing, sharing, distributing, securing, and leveraging company data resources.
Minimum Technical Requirements:
-- 5+ years Information Technology experience.
-- 1+ years experience in a RDBMS programming environment.
-- 1+ years experience in reporting development;
-- Knowledgeable in complex reporting development;
-- Strong background in structured systems and data analysis;
-- Demonstrated ability with SDLC, JAD, or RAD methodologies;
-- Expertise in relational database design (normalized and dimensional).
-- Skilled with one or more data modeling CASE tools (e.g., ERwin, SilverRun, LBMS, S-Designor).
-- Proficient with MS Office suite.
Required:
-- Strong ability to work with business units to formulate business and data requirements.
-- Ability to work with other database administrators to complete database designs and models.
-- Highly motivated individual with very good analytical skills dedicated to completing tasks on schedule.
Desired:
-- Programming in SQL to perform the data query functions.
-- Have experience working with other Business Intelligence software (Business Objects, Cognos, MicroStrategies, Crystal Reports) applications.
-- Knowledge of Unix a plus.
Education:
-- BS or BA, desirable.
