Network Engineer in Dallas, TX

Our Client is looking for a Network Engineer with Cisco experience.

The ideal candidate would have 2 - 3 years experience supporting Network and VoIP networks in a complex environment. This position will involve the support of a growing International Cisco Wide Area Network and all components within the numerous Local Area Networks that are connected.

This is great opportunity for a Cisco Network Engineer with 2 - 3 years to develop their skills in a fast past growing environment. The scope of the position will grow with the successful candidate. The Network/Telecom group is fully converged and a small team, allowing the successful candidate to get experience on a broad range of products and technologies. This is a great opportunity to work with new technologies and products in an environment where the best solution is preferred over the lowest cost solution.

Examples of projects that the candidate will be working on are:

Building and relocating of two new networks in Dallas and New York.
Evaluating and deploying an enterprise NAC solution
Deployment of a new "thin" wireless networks with 802.1x authentication
Assist in the migration from VPN to MPLS for all WAN connectivity globally
Maintain IOS upgrades on all network devices globally




Responsibilities

Our Client's network is a fully converged voice and data network that consists of over 180 Cisco devices (routers, switches, firewalls, access points and VPN devices) with over 2000 network ports, Juniper WAN acceleration devices and Avaya IP PBXs spread out over 7 locations throughout the globe.

The position will include support, installation and implementation of Network components throughout the client's network. As this is primarily a Cisco network, extensive Cisco IOS configuration experience is required.

The successful candidate will be expected to perform upgrades and configuration changes to Cisco network devices including switches, routers, firewalls and access points. The position will also include day to day support and resolution of network related problems.

Interaction with other groups within IT and Development and 3rd part Vendors including Bloomberg, Reuters and Telco's to resolve problems will be also be required.

Proactive monitoring of network health and the resolution of any issues before they cause outages will be a major component of this position.

Other duties include:

Maintaining Network Management Systems and applications.
Implementation of new technologies and products.
Supporting Client's International network (expected to share in the support duties 24 x 7).


Required Job Skills

The ideal candidate should have most of the following experience and qualifications:

2 - 3 years experience deploying and supporting Cisco routers - 2800/3800
2 - 3 years experience deploying and supporting Cisco switches - 2950/3550/3560/4500/6500
1 - 2 years experience supporting corporate firewalls - preferably Cisco
1 - 2 years experience supporting VoIP networks
1 - 2 years experience supporting a large scale Wide Area Network (VPN and MPLS)
1 - 2 years experience using protocol analyzers
Formal Cisco qualifications - CCNA, CCNP, CCDP
A thorough understanding of TCP/IP protocols
A thorough understanding of Network Technologies
